Anyone not attended his/her trial for a reckless driving charge?
I am from Wisconsin and have to travel a thousand miles (spend a couple of hundreds on flight) to attend my trial for a reckless driving charge (88 mph/65 mph) in Virginia. This is my first ever driving offense. However, I can exempt myself from attending. I would like to know if my absence at the trial will raise my fine? I can put my money to better use by paying the damages alone instead of purchasing the flight ticket in addition.

If you do not have to attend court and have representation there, pay the fine. It will not be altered by your non attendence. However, if you are simply blowing it off, bad idea. Warrent will go out for your arrest and next time you board a plane it will be flagged by homeland security. You can guess the rest.

I do not practice law in VA but I would not think your absence in and of itself would increase the fine. It does not do so in my jurisdiction. Your best bet would be to call the clerk's office in that jurisdiction and ask them.

You should be able to pay the fine prior to your court date and then it would be taken care of. You wouldn't need to worry about the court date or being present. You can usually pay on line or over the phone with a cc or debit check card.

first of all, you are a liar!!!!this is hardly your first offense. this is the first time you have been caught. fret not....nobody gives a fuck about you in Virginia.....if you do not show up for trial a warrant will be issued. eventually you will be caught for speeding in Wisconsin and held on the Virginia bench warrant. BUT NOBODY GIVES A FU-CK ABOUT YOU IN VIRGINIA!!!!!! do you actually think they are going to send a lawyer to Wisconsin to argue extradition and then send two cops and buy three plane tickets to haul your sorry as-s to Virginia.
