Getting to BWI from Fairfax Virginia

Getting to BWI from Fairfax Virginia?
OK so I get off work at 330pm on friday in Fairfax Virginia and I have a flight at 9pm at BWI. Now i know its 6 hours but i have to get onto I495 north and I95 North. Mapquest says it will take 1 hour 10 min. but i know that cant be true with Northern virginia traffic. anyone make this trip who could give me a realistic time frame?

You also didn't figure on weather. That being said, you could probably do it in about 2 hours depending on traffic of course. The choke points will be the area of the 270/495 split and the area near Georgia Ave. After that it is pretty much smooth sailing getting onto 95N. If someone has an accident on 495 and causes a lane to be shut down, you could be pretty much stuck. Suggest you leave straight from work to make your flight. That time that Mapquest gives is doesn't take into account rush hour and rush hour usually lasts until about 8pm.

from Fairfax if you take I66 to 495 (south) towards 95.... jump on 295 north ........ that should do it or u could take 495 (south) to 295 ....... 2 hours its always good to get to the airport early so you should not leave your house any later then 5PM can always read a book at the terminal if you have to wait
