40 minute layover DTW from domestic flight to international flight

40 minute layover DTW from domestic flight to international flight?
is this enough time?? I am going to the Netherlands in May when school gets out :) I am flying from ORF (Norfolk, Virginia) to DTW to AMS. is this an okay connection time? It is delta and in the same mcnamara terminal. Can someone with experience tell me how this terminal works? I looked at the terminal map online http://www.metroairport.com/maps/McNamaraGatesCrossParking.asp do you think my domestic and international flight will both arrive in same concourse? I have traveled extensively internationally, so I know depending on airports sometimes they close boarding like 30min before flight, so I am nervous. It is extremely important we get to Amsterdam before 10am the next morning. Thanks!

This should never have been scheduled with such a short interval. What will you do if you miss that departing flight? Better make a plan now, because I think it is very likely that you will miss it.

if the system let you book it that way, presumably it is a legal connection. You will have your onward boarding pass already in ORF, so you just need to go to the connecting gate (don't dilly-dally, though)

Its possible but you will have to run. That 40 min is from the time the plane stops at the gate. you may have to subtract 5-10 minutes off that 40 just to get off the plane.
