Where do I go through customs: France or Aberdeen Scotland

Where do I go through customs: France or Aberdeen Scotland?
I'm traveling from Virginia to Charlotte NC, then NC to Paris CDG then connecting on to final destination of Aberdeen Scotland. Will I have to reclaim my bags and go thru customs in Paris? Or just thru security to connecting flights and passport control at CDG? OR will I just go thru customs and immigration at Aberdeen airport since thats my final destination?

It depends on your flight booking, your ticketing, and your baggage arrangements. If you have obtained the boarding pass for the flight CDG - Aberdeen in Charlotte and were able to have your baggage checked-through to Aberdeen you will not pass French immigration and customs at all. On arrival at CDG terminal 1 you just follow the flight transit signs (to gates 20 to 28). Take the free Aéroports de Paris shuttle which serves Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2E. Frequency: every 12 to 18 minutes from 14:00 to 19:00 and every 18 to 25 minutes from 05:10 to 14:00 and 19:00 to 23:45, 7 days a week. At your departure terminal 2E you will pass security check and can stay in the transit lounge until the gate opens. If you could not get your bagagge checked through you will first pass French Immigration, then claim your baggage, pass through custom and take the CDGVAL automated train system which operates between terminal 1 and terminal 2 every 4 minutes and takes 8 minutes travel time. You will check in your baggage at terminal 2E for the connection flight to Aberdeen..

It all depends how your flight/luggage is setup. If your itinerary is North Carolina to Aberdeen (you'll surely only pass customs in Aberdeen as your luggage will only be picked up at your final destination. It would serve no point to control someone at customs if they do not have all their luggage). You're technically IN europe while in Paris, but still in the airport. Unless you go towards the airport exits, where you'd be subject to customs, you'll only be in the airport to transfer to another city (france or international) However, if the intinerary is NC-Paris and then Paris-Aberdeen, you'll pass customs at both Paris and Aberdeen. I doubt it, because you'd pick up your luggage, pass customs, and then check in your luggage again and go 'back into' the airport. It's a useless step. I have not heard of anybody do this (but anything is possible) If you didn't book everything separately, you'll only be subject to passport control in paris, and all you'll have is your carry-on and passport Have fun
