More then one stop on a flight.

More then one stop on a flight. ?
I've going to be traveling soon and I like to know wayyy in advance of what I need to do just in case things go wrong. I'm headed to virginia and I'm making a couple stops on the way there and the way back home. Will I undergo a check in of my luggage each stop? Or will my bags be automatically delivered to my next plane? THANKS.

When you are at the check in counter, ask if your luggage will arrive at its' final destination.

You check your bags at the airport and they magically appear when you have reached your destination. At least that is the way it usually works for me and I fly a lot! No worries, relax and enjoy the flight.

More often than not, your luggage will automatically be checked through to the final destination. This is particular true if the flights segments are operated by the same airline or partnered airlines. When you check-in, either ask the attendent handling your luggage to see if it will be checked through to the final destination or look at the sticker that will show the 3-letter airport code of the arrival city (i.e. Norfolk International Airport = ORF). This answer only applies to domestic travel.

you don't say where you are starting from is in the US or somewhere else? and again you don't say where in Virginia you are going either so if this trip is international yes your luggage will be inspected but if your trip is domestic it may or may not be inspected by the TSA
