Seeking Cruise Advice from Northern Virginia

Seeking Cruise Advice from Northern Virginia?
My girlfriend and I are looking to take our first cruise. We live in Northern Virginia and are looking to spend no more than $1200 each which should cover flight and cruise. Probably need to fly out of DCA airport to some location in Florida, Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale etc. We need to leave the 25th of July and are semi flexible on the length of stay. We want to get the most for our money. Our families suggest Royal Caribbean for the cruise line. Any advice people? Which is nicer between the Bahamas and the Caribbean? We are looking for a little bit of a quieter/romantic get away. Shore excursions are a must but want to avoid annoying bastard kids.

You can cruise out of Baltimore. You can drive to Baltimore and leave you car (there's a big secure parking area for cruisers). That cuts out the expense of air fare. We're doign this in August (we live in Philly). See Carnival Cruise's web site for sailing dates and costs. Talk to a travel agent - they are super helpful!
