How long would you stay if you drive time is 12 1/2 hours long to get to destination

How long would you stay if you drive time is 12 1/2 hours long to get to destination?
I am driving to Tallahassee Fl. from Northern Virginia for my daughter graduation from FSU and my son who is 13 wants to go bad. I hate flying since it is not a straight flight not matter what and there is a long layover. Plus I can take my daughter stuff. My son cannot miss too much school so how long is too short for all that driving?

plan on breaking the trip up. I travel extensively and w/o a partner about 400 miles in 1 day is about my limit(about 8 hours).for example ignore map quest which will drive you down terminally boring I-95 You have a beautiful drive in western Virginia The Skyline drive/Blueridge parkway If you stat in Front Royal Virginia its about 9 hours stay over night in boone n.c. go then to I- 75 south that puts you out near your destination. on the return, stop over in the Columbia area. South Carolina's Capital is very pretty.In sum 2 days down, 2 days back and 2 days downthere ought to be fine.

Many times I have driven from Texas to Illinois and just stayed 2 days before returning home. So, a total of 4 days. (I often drive 12-13 hours in a day.)

I'll drive that distance to visit for a half hour. But that's because I'm a truck driver. In your case I would visit for 2 days.
