I like sidestep.com. This must be a troll. There are dozens of flights under $300 per person for those dates from DCA to SNA. And this guy couldn't even give a home or destination airport, and he didn't like anyone's answer.

If you're looking to find all four tickets for $400, it's not going to happen -- flights from the east coast to the west coast are usually double that price at the very least, and may be more than that for your instance, as you're within 14 days of your departure date.

I would prefer PrivateJet for cheap flight tickets, you too try for cheapest deals. http://www.247jet.com/

go to cheaptickets.com

Southwest Airlines has a lot of flights out of Baltimore if you are willing to drive there. Virginia does not have a lot of airports that are served by discount airlines. Start with Southwest Airlines and see what you can find.

I searched flights departing from Richmond, VA, to Los Angeles, CA (8/10 to 8/25) on Bing Travel, just to "get the gist" and see if generally there were any round-trip flights at your price range. Apparently, the price range seemed to be from $385 and up. You may want to refine the searches or go to other travel websites/agencies to find better flights. Also note that some of the cheaper flights may require you to sleep at the airport while you're connecting, so beware of that.
