Do I need a Parent or Guardian present to get an ID Card from the DM

Do I need a Parent or Guardian present to get an ID Card from the DMV?
I'm planning on going on a flight but I need an ID card. I'm only 17 but have all the documents I need to get it. I need to know if I need a parent or guardian there for me to get the ID card or if I can just walk in and get it by myself. I live in Virginia btw.

No your parent or guardian has to be with you because legally you are a minor even though you are capable of doing it yourself.

I went to the Virginia DMV website but it didn't say. It looks like they only have to be there is you're under 15. Since it's just an ID and not a license I wouldn't think a parent or guardian would have to sign but I would call them to be sure. http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/id/get_id.asp
